Recipe: Valentines Day Cupcakes

Today I wanted to share my recipe for beautiful and fun Valentine’s Day cupcakes with you all. These are delicious red velvet cupcakes with pink vanilla frosting. I got into the spirit of love by decorating them with red sugar, heart sprinkles, and large conversation hearts. These would be fun to make for your children’s classroom, to bring to your work place on Valentine’s Day or just to make with your kids any day this month to get in the Valentine’s Day spirit.

Once your cupcakes are done baking, let them cool on a wire baking sheet or plate for at least 30 minutes before you frost them. They should be completely cool before you start frosting.

To make your frosting, simply mix all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer.

For fun, color your frosting pink with pink food coloring, or use just a few drops of red food coloring so it comes out pink.

Frost your cupcakes!

I simply used a knife to frost my cupcakes but you could also put your frosting in a zip lock bag and frost them that way, too.

Use fun decorations to complete the Valentine’s Day look.

I picked up red sugars and some red and white heart sprinkles from the Valentine’s Day baking section of Target.

Decorate your cupcake however your  heart desires. If you don’t want sprinkles all on the top you could roll the sides of the cupcakes in sprinkles so they are all around the edges.

conversation hearts in bag

I picked up a big bag of the large conversation hearts to complete my look. Nothing says Valentine’s Day like conversation hearts right?
