Oreo Truffle Snowballs

I’m a huge fan of Oreo Truffles (aka Balls from Heaven!). They have been my #1 go-to dessert for the past few holiday seasons. This year I wanted to start the season with something different. As I was trying to think of kid-friendly holiday snack ideas, I figured why not mix up one of my favorites? Kids like Oreos. Kids like snowballs.

Why not combine the two and create Oreo Truffle Snowballs? And that’s what I did and you’ll thank me for it. Not only are they delicious but they are so fun and festive that they will be the hit of any holiday party. Plus, if you saw the super popular Peanut Butter Graham Cracker Balls, you’d know that people like balls. 🙂

Ingredients:

1 package regular size Oreo cookies, crushed

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 package white chocolate chips

White sugar crystals/sprinkles and/or coconut

Preparation:

1.  Crush the Oreos with a food processor. You can do it by hand but it is so much easier with a food processor.

2.  Mix Oreos crumbs and cream cheese together with a blender.

3.  Roll into walnut size balls and place them on a wax paper covered plate or pan.

4.  Freeze for at least an hour.

5.  Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave or in a double boiler.

6.  Stick a toothpick in an Oreo ball and dip it in the melted chocolate.

7. Let the chocolate drip off the Oreo ball and then sprinkle with white crystal sugar sprinkles over a plate. (You want to do it over a plate to catch the extra sprinkles and re-use them!)

8.  Place sprinkled Oreo ball on wax paper and gently remove the toothpick.  Cover the toothpick hole by smearing the chocolate lightly with the toothpick.

9. Another option would be to sprinkle coconut onto the freshly dipped Oreo ball. Instead of sprinkles, immediately set the dipped ball onto wax paper and sprinkle with coconut. You will need to lightly press the coconut into the chocolate to get it to stick. To give your guests (or kids!) a variety, I suggest doing some with sprinkles and some with coconut.

10. Chill or freeze until chocolate is set.

**If you are feeling creative and/or serving them to kids, you can put three balls on a cake pop stick (the coconut ones look cuter!), add 2 eyes and three buttons with black gel frosting and wrap a Twizzler rope around the next like a scarf, and you have yourself an Oreo Truffle Snowman! Cutest. Thing. Ever.
